Health – How to maintain it?

Health is defined as the state of a sound body and mind, especially freedom from physical disease and pain. How to keep the body healthy and fully fit is the biggest obstacle in modern day life. People have no time to go to the gym or to exercise at home, or eat a proper diet on time. Gradually our health deteriorates and we become the victim of high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis and many other diseases. These diseases are like slow poison.

Pressure and tension from everyday life is affecting more and more people. Many unknown diseases are becoming common in the medical science dictionary. There was time when epilepsy and migraine were called rare diseases but now these diseases are becoming common.

Lack of sleep and nutritious diet are but a few of the reasons behind epilepsy and migraine. Children are becoming victims of obesity and other diseases due to the excessive intake of junk food. The environment and hole in ozone layer are contributing to skin cancer, eye diseases, etc.

Ways to maintain Health.

Physical Exercise - Physical exercise is absolutely necessary for maintaining fitness and overall health. Regular physical exercise is helpful in the prevention of many diseases like cancer, heart disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity and other ailments. We can do different kinds of exercise like Aerobic, Anaerobic, stretching, etc to maintain one’s health. Playing sports can also be a good physical exercise. We can play tennis, badminton, do swimming, play golf, etc which can be both enjoying as well as rewarding physically.

Nutrition – A balanced diet is an important part of being healthy. We must ensure that the diet is neither excessive nor deficient in proteins, minerals and other nutritious elements.

Hygiene – Hygiene is defined as maintaining cleanliness. It includes washing hands, taking bath regularly, etc so that one remains free from germs and diseases. By maintaining a good hygiene routine, we can help ward off many types of illness.

Meditation –In a life with so much stress, it is very important to keep one’s mind at peace. Meditation and practices like Yoga are gaining popularity. Meditation and Yoga are breathing techniques which keep your mind and body in sync thereby giving you peace. As it is said that a healthy mind makes a healthy body and hence it is as important to maintain a healthy mind as it is to maintain a healthy body.
