Golf Drive Improvement Techniques and Methods

The Game of Golf

Golf Drive is essential in the game of Golf, which is a sport in which plyaers or teams hit a ball in to a hole using a special “club”. This sport does not have a fixed and standard playing area. Golf is generally considered to be an upper class pass-time. But at the same time it is quite popular among all sections of the society.

Golf Course

The playing area of golf is termed the course. A course normally has 18 holes. Hole is also called a cup in golf terminology. Hole designates not just the hole alone. This includes also the distance from tee. Teeing Ground is the area from where the ball is hit first. To hit the ball a variety of clubs are used. The area surrounding the hole is termed green. The green may be either ‘fast’ or ‘slow’.

Holes have hazards like water hazards and sand traps.

There may be a separate practice course termed driving course.

Par

A hole is qualified by its par. Par is nothing but the number of strokes a skilled golfer would need to hit the ball from the tee into the green and then in to the hole. Par 3,Par 4, and Par 5 holes are common. Sometimes there may be par 6 holes. Par of a hole primarily depends on its distance from the tee.

How golf is played?

Starting from the tee, the ball is hit towards the holes in an order. When the ball comes to rest it is hit again from the rest position. In a course, normally 18 holes are called a standard round. In a 9 holes golf course, two successive rounds comprise a standard round. Fewer number of strokes you need to put the ball into the hole, the higher your score.

Players either walk or drive through the course. Caddies may help carry their equipments along the way.

Scoring

Golf has two kinds of palying method. ‘Match paly’ and ‘Stroke play’. The two have different scoring methods.

Your Golf Swing

Golf swing is undoubtedly one of the difficult athletic movement to execute in today’s sports. For an effective and powerful golf swing, you need to move the club along a specific path at the correct time, that too in a sequential order. Any mistake in the timing, path and its order will result in poor shot.

To effectively perofrm the golf swing- power, strength, endurance, balance and improved flexibility of your body is required. If your body lacks any of these qualities your golf performance will be below par (bun ;-)).

Powerful Drives

In golf you need to hit through long distance in a shot. For this your golf drives need to be powerful. This power enhances club speed resulting in more distance coverage.

The power of your golf drive depends on the mechanics of your golf swing. To get poerful golf drives your body needs to release large and more force in a short duration.

Tips for Your Golf Drive

The game of golf has two important compnents. One is ‘driving’ and the other is ‘putting’. Performance of these two components determine whether you get a good score or bad score.

Of these two, putting may be considered to be easier to learn. It is more of a focussed activity. But driving is a little bit complex and harder.Once learned, putting stays with you for your life time. But driving gets affected by aging as dexterity and flexibility changes with time.
